Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford is seeking the community’s help in identifying an unidentified white male found deceased on August 14, 2024 in a wooded area next to a parking lot on Averyt Avenue.
The wooded area is directly behind Wendy’s restaurant at 300 Bush River Road. The decedent was locally known by the nickname “Smitty” and was known to frequent Wendy’s, Dollar Tree, and other nearby locations. He is estimated to be in his 70’s and was of smaller stature with a long gray/white beard. He has no tattoos.
