Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford is releasing the name of the missing person whose body was discovered in the Congaree River on Sunday, May 26, 2025.
According to Coroner Rutherford, the victim is identified as Donavan J. Dempsey, 18, of Spartanburg, SC.
“We will continue working with the Columbia Police Department, the Columbia Fire Department, and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources to fully investigate this incident” Coroner Rutherford states.
