Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford has released the identity of the individual who died as a result of a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday, June 8, 2025.
The incident took place near the intersection of Percival Road and Quail Run Lane. The victim has been identified as Jayson R. Cooke, 17, of Columbia, South Carolina.
Coroner Rutherford offered her condolences to the family and assured the public that her office is committed to a thorough investigation.
“We will continue working with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department to fully investigate this homicide,” Coroner Rutherford states.
